Terri (Evert) Karsten
John Evert's daughter, Terri grew up listening to Johnny's stories of his famous river trip and learned the stories were true when she read the trip diary. When she found letters and newspaper articles from the trip, she decided she had to write the book.
Born in California, Terri lived in Iowa, Mexico, France and Wisconsin before settling in Minnesota. Like her father, Terri enjoys canoeing, kayaking and sailing, though she has never attempted a long distance trip like the one he took. Her longest canoe trip was 5 days in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota, where she sighted moose and went to sleep serenaded by wolves.
